In general, public disclosure may affect the novelty of an invention. However, under the Patents Act (Cap. 262), an applicant is allowed a 12-month grace period from the date of public disclosure to file a patent application in Brunei Darussalam. After this period, the invention may no longer be considered new and may not be patentable.
